I’m sure all of you must have created a list full of crazy things that you've wanted to do at least once at some point in your life. I’m also sure that most of you may have already forgotten about this list by this point.
One day while travelling to college by metro, I randomly thought of the idea of creating my own bucket list. The same night, I spent hours contemplating the things that would make me feel like living a fulfilling life and typed down my very own bucket list.
A few days ago, I was reminded of this list I created almost three years ago. What brought me to tears was a very special point I wrote in that list, knowing that I may never have the courage to actually strike it off someday. It said, 'Start my own blog'. I realised that I was working on this process long before I actually started my blog 2 months ago.
Although the idea of creating a bucket list might seem childish to many, I believe that it enables us to look within ourselves and understand what truly makes us happy in life. It dims all thoughts of comparison and self-criticism and allows us to build a deeper connection with ourselves.
In order to be more mindful of the life that I am building for myself, I have decided to work towards striking more items off my bucket list and also consciously taking out time for self-reflection to add more items to it on the go ( because a bucket list is never ‘too long’ :D )
This week, I encourage you to:
Make your own bucket list if you’ve never had any.
Revisit your bucket list if you’ve forgotten about its existence, just like I did.
It’s going to nudge you to find meaning and reconnect with your values in life. We spend so much time every day interacting with people and getting to know them more, so why not make a tiny bit of effort to get to know ourselves more?
